JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF THE MUSCLE CELL

Muscle is the driving force behind movement and therefore at the centre of sporting activities. With 639 muscles that weigh 35% of our body mass, the muscle is the largest organ in the human body. The main function of the muscle is the muscle contraction that results from the transformation of chemical energy into mechanical energy by the muscle fibre, the functional unit of the muscle. During our conference, we will take you on a journey to the extremely small one to observe and capture the smallest components of the muscle cell that are invisible to the naked eye.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY TO HELP WITH CHRONIC DISEASES

The major role of physical activity in the care and treatment of chronic diseases has been confirmed by a collective expertise of Inserm of more than 1800 scientific articles. The benefits of appropriate physical activity are demonstrated, regardless of age and health status (for example, a 25% reduction in mortality after a heart attack). The expert examined the conditions for obtaining therapeutic benefits, and stressed the importance of a personalized activity, tailored to the medical needs, abilities and limitations of each sick person. Building the conditions for sustainable practice that takes into account the psychological and social dimensions is essential.
